2026 Symposium on Diagnostic and Surveillance of Infectious Diseases

Organised by Sciensano, under the auspices of the Belgian Association for Public Health (BAPH).

Sciensano organises each year a scientific seminar about “Diagnostic and Surveillance of Infectious Diseases”. The next seminar will take place on Thursday, 21st of May 2026, in Brussels.

This seminar provides an up-to-date overview of various topics concerning infectious diseases such as surveillance, prevention, treatment and management of epidemics, at national and international levels. It is aimed at any healthcare provider with an interest in infectious diseases: microbiologists, infectious disease specialists, hygienists, laboratory technicians, epidemiologists, public health personnel …

You are kindly invited to submit an abstract for a poster presentation on the theme of infectious diseases (microbiology, Belgian or European epidemiology, clinical trials). The call for abstracts is open until Friday, 3rd of April 2026. Abstracts for posters recently presented at a national or an international conference are welcome for submission. All posters should be in portrait format A0.

Please be aware that maximum 25 abstracts among those received will be selected for a poster presentation. Therefore, the organising committee reserves the right to reject some posters if the number of applications exceeds the maximum number of posters or if the content is deemed inappropriate. The 3 most interesting abstracts will be selected for an oral presentation (around 10 minutes) during the second session (see programme).
